It appears that eCart is a fork of Magento, is this correct?

Can anyone provide any specifics as to:

1) What version of Magento was forked? The installer.php a varien reference dated 2008.

2) Any significant updates to the Magento code you can share? For example, performance has always been a major complaint of Magento admins, are you doing anything to address this in eCart such as full page caching, etc)

3) I notice the Connect (/downloader) functionality has been removed. Is there plan for an upgrade service of some kind?

4a) Will Magento extensions work on eCart?

4b) Is there plans for an eCart extension / design store?

I tried to install a Magento theme manually, and… could not figure out how to configure it in the backend. It appears that the theme system is more unified than Magento’s (which is a relief) but very similar.

Couldn’t figure it out on cursory attempt, though.

Maybe this has Agent Ohm code? Honestly, it does *seem* faster. Hope my benchmarking intuition is on today… 0_o
